Composite fillings in Brandon, Florida, are safe and affordable restorations for treating cavities and minor tooth damage. White fillings are incredibly adaptable to enhance the function and structure of your tooth without ruining its natural aesthetics.
While amalgam (metal) fillings are cheap and easy to place, Williams Family and Cosmetic Dentistry uses composite fillings because of their safety and remarkable aesthetic appeal. After composite filling treatment, you’ll have a much more natural smile without revealing you have had dental work.
Restoring your tooth with a white filling is a painless and fast procedure, often completed within an hour or less. Before the treatment, we’ll inspect your tooth with dental X-rays to ensure a filling is just enough to fix your issue.Â
Then, we’ll remove a small portion of the decayed/damaged tooth and clean the area to remove all traces of harmful bacteria. The dentist will then fill the void left with composite resin to support the remaining tooth structure.Â
Next, we’ll harden the filling material with a curing light to create a long-lasting restoration. The final step is to reshape your tooth until your bite feels natural and comfortable. And just like that, you have a cavity-smile!
Many patients experience minimal downtime after a cavity treatment. Perhaps the only precaution you should observe is to avoid chewing or taking hot drinks until the anesthesia wears off, which occurs after about two hours. Other than that, you can go on about your everyday activities.Â
White fillings are metal-free. They are created from a blend of acrylic plastic and finely grounded glass. Composite fillings can be colored to match the shade of your tooth for undetectable results. Â
Besides aesthetics, composite fillings offer other benefits like:
