A beautiful smile gives patients the confidence they need to share it with others. On the other hand, an imperfect smile can impact one’s self-esteem and cause one to feel incredibly self-conscious when socializing with friends, family, and coworkers. If you have imperfections at the front of the smile that make you worry about your appearance, it might be time to talk to the team at Williams Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Brandon, Florida, about the many advantages of cosmetic treatments such as porcelain veneers!
Dr. Trevor Williams of Williams Family and Cosmetic Dentistry describes the porcelain veneer as a thin shell or facing customized to match the patient’s existing teeth in color, size, and shape. It is bonded over the natural tooth structure after being prepared to disguise problems. These veneers are best used over teeth with issues such as:
Most patients who are in good overall dental health and free from disease and decay may be considered for porcelain veneers. During a consultation visit with Dr. Trevor Williams and his Brandon, Florida team, you can discuss your smile goals and find out if you are eligible for veneers. At this appointment, they will also educate you on how to care for your veneers to ensure they last many years to come!
We first start with a consultation appointment, during which you will be evaluated to determine if you are a good fit for porcelain veneers. Our front office team can also help in finding out if you have any dental insurance benefits that can be used towards the final cost of veneers. Once you choose to move forward with this treatment, preparations begin. Dr. Trevor Williams files down the front of the tooth and roughens it to allow the veneer to bond better. Impressions are made and sent to a dental ceramist at an outside laboratory that creates your veneers and mails them back to the office. Once complete, you will return to the office to have the veneers glued to your prepared teeth. With proper care, most patients enjoy their porcelain veneers for over a decade before needing replacement. Routine visits to evaluate the health of the tooth underneath are also crucial in maintaining a veneer’s longevity.
