Brandon, Florida area patients thinking about straightening their smile may hesitate due to the common recommendation of orthodontic treatment. However, Dr. Trevor Williams may have a different approach. Instead of using metal brackets and wire braces to realign the teeth and bite, a treatment known as Invisalign, or “invisible braces,” may be the solution for you!
Dr. Trevor Williams of Williams Family and Cosmetic Dentistry describes Invisalign as “invisible braces.” These braces eliminate the need for traditional metal brackets and wires. Instead, they utilize clear plastic trays that are custom-made for the patients based on impressions digitized into software and used to create a series of appliances. Each tray made in a patient’s series will be worn for two weeks at a time before moving on to the next one. The trays are simple to remove for eating, brushing, and flossing and need to be worn for at least 22 hours each day to see the expected results.
Invisalign treatment offers several advantages over traditional braces:
Because the aligners are nearly invisible, Invisalign is an excellent option for adults and teenagers who desire to improve their smiles without wearing metal braces. However, not everyone is a good candidate for Invisalign. The best candidates for Invisalign are adults with mild to moderate misalignment of their teeth. Invisalign might not be appropriate for you if you have severe misalignment, extensive crowding, or certain bite problems. If you’re not sure whether Invisalign is right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Trevor Williams of Williams Family and Cosmetic Dentistry for an evaluation. He will be able to assess your individual needs and recommend the best treatment option.
