Dr. Trevor Williams of Williams Family and Cosmetic Dentistry is a skilled professional with years of experience providing patients with general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry. He is also an Invisalign Gold+ Partner, obtaining the training and expertise to help patients restore the alignment of their smiles! If you are considering ways to address the misalignment of your teeth, you may want to talk to our team of professionals about the benefits of orthodontic treatment. At our office, we use clear aligner therapies such as Invisalign.
Understanding Invisalign treatments and how it works is essential for patients considering this option. Invisalign is a unique type of realignment system that uses a series of clear, plastic aligners to gently and slowly shift teeth into their proper position. Because the clear aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable material, they are virtually invisible when worn! This means you can have straighter teeth without anyone knowing you’re undergoing treatment. Because this treatment is virtually invisible, it is often chosen over traditional metal bracket-and-wire braces.
In addition to being virtually invisible, Invisalign is also removable! This means you can take them out for special occasions and eat your favorite foods. You will also need to remove the aligners for brushing and flossing, making it easy to maintain good oral hygiene throughout treatment. Patients find that using their Invisalign trays as directed is easy and straightforward and allows them to be in control of their treatment from start to finish. Patients often have fewer recall visits during their Invisalign process, eliminating long appointments with an orthodontist.
The time needed to achieve results depends on many factors, including the severity of misalignment, the compliance to treatment from the patient, and how the teeth respond to treatment. An evaluation is often used to give patients a realistic timeframe for achieving the final results. However, most cases can be achieved in approximately one year or less.
If you are interested in learning more about Invisalign and how it could help you, you will want to visit a provider to determine if you are a good candidate. Most of the patients considered for Invisalign treatment are those with mild to moderate misalignment of the teeth and a smile free from decay and periodontal disease. Patients with overcrowding may still need to see a specialized dentist for orthodontic preparations, including removing teeth before starting Invisalign treatments.
