When iTero launched the first intraoral scanner in 2007, it was a game-changer in the dental care industry. This state-of-the-art technology revolutionized the dentistry landscape by enabling dentists to harness the power of digital scanning.
Would you like to benefit from iTero Dental Technology in Brandon, FL? Here is what you need to know before taking advantage of this ground-breaking technology.
Williams Family and Cosmetic Dentistry uses the iTero 5D Dental scanner. This is a computerized dental imaging system used to scan the patient’s mouth, simultaneously capturing 5D, intra oral color and NIRI images within minutes and this helps dentists in restorative dentistry. The best part is that these scanners are user-friendly and can be used by one person. Besides, they are detail-laden compared to the traditional counterparts they replaced.
Equipped with a wand, intraoral scanners help dentists scan the patient’s mouth, capturing thousands of frames per second used to form a 5D visualization of the patient’s mouth. Given the advancement of the intraoral scanners, dentists can scan hard-to-reach parts of the patient’s mouth, especially for patients who cannot open their mouths fully. Again, the small nature of the wands is less invasive, ruling out the need for patients to gag.
As if that is not enough, intraoral scanners are fitted with screens showing live dental images as they are captured. This convenience enables dental professionals to assess whether the scan is good before being sent to the lab. This real-time feedback eliminates the chances of getting word from the lab days or weeks down the line that the scans sent were inadequate.
Invisalign treatment is a popular teeth-straightening procedure because it is removable, effective, and almost undetectable. iTero intraoral scanners help with the procedure due to their open architecture that allows the simulation to help visualize the Invisalign treatment outcome. This technology improves the patients’ experience as they have an idea of what to expect, reducing the rejection rate.
Besides Invisalign treatment, iTero intraoral scanners help dental practitioners to perform other restorative dentistry procedures like fitting implants, veneers, and crowns. Furthermore, 5D images help dentists identify oral problems to devise a proper treatment plan.
Absolutely yes. Intraoral scanners do not emit any ionizing radiation during the scanning process. However, you may be required to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from bright light.
